Year 11 Final Assembly – Class of 2024

On the afternoon of Thursday 6 June, we said an emotional farewell to our year 11 students in their final assembly.

First of all, the students surprised Head of Year and Assistant Head of Year, Mrs Mills and Miss Johnson, with some beautiful handmade gifts. Students were then taken on a trip down memory lane as they watched a video montage of the last five years. It was wonderful to see how much they have grown from their first day year 7 photos!

Awards were presented for the final time for each subject area and each tutor group. Details of the winners can be found below. Tutors then read personal messages to their groups.

A video was shown that staff had put together to wish the students well for the future and then, finally, Mrs Mills, Miss Johnson and Mrs Howell surprised the students with very convincing impersonations of the students, dressed in school uniform to introduce a very special staff lip-sync video to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off.

After shirt signing, selfies and ice creams, the students departed.

Thank you to the staff involved in putting this final assembly together to make it a special event for the students. It was a fitting celebration for the students’ five year journey at Medina College where memories have been made to last their lifetime.

We now wish the students all the very best for the remaining exams and continue to be available for support if any students need.

She has worked hard to master her craft in her reading and writing skills, offering sparky and original observations about the world that she applies seamlessly to her written work. She is a team player, selfless in supporting their endeavours and she keeps us teachers on our toes by challenging anything that she doesn’t agree with. More than this, though, is her constant drive for perfection and her impressive ability to work independently to achieve her goals. Without question, Maggie deserves this English award.
