Head of School’s Blog – 19 July 2024

Welcome to this week’s blog.

Year 10 finished their trial exams and, overall, they were amazing. On Wednesday and Thursday it was Year 9 trial exams for their core subjects of maths, English and science. They coped with this so well. The exams team were impressed with their attitude and behaviour during the exams. Well done to them all.

Year 10 students were out on work experience Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Feedback is excellent so far and we hope they found it useful to see how it is outside of school in the work environment.

I had the pleasure of attending our Year 11 prom on Thursday night at Newclose Cricket Ground. It was fantastic to be able to celebrate the end of their five years at Carisbrooke for this amazing year group. They all looked stunning (and so very grown up!) and the array of vehicles used to get to the prom was brilliant. Feedback about them from the DJ and staff at the venue was very complimentary. We wish them all well for whatever they choose to do in the next stage of their young lives. Look out for photos of the event on our social media sites. Thank you to Mrs Smith and everyone else involved in organising such a special evening. It was lovely to have so many staff support the evening.

Next week we have our Celebration Assemblies and I am so proud to see so many nominations for students who have gone above and beyond in their learning. I look forward to having the pleasure of congratulating our students with certificates during the assemblies.

We have only one week left until the end of term. School will finish at 3.15 pm on Friday 26 July. Our expectations of students remain the same – arrive at school on time, in full uniform and with equipment ready. Attendance, as always, is vitally important for your child’s education and we are grateful for your continued support with this.

Due to the weather warming up, next week blazers will be optional, but must not be replaced with any other form of clothing.

Congratulations to our highest achievement point winners last week, Michael Year 7, Jackson Year 8, Lexi and Daniel Year 9 and Joshua and Roo Year 10. Keep up the good work!

I hope you can join us next week at the Creative Arts Showcase on Wednesday 24 July. Have a lovely weekend.
