Welcome to this week’s blog, I hope you had an enjoyable half term.
Yesterday was a special day as we held our leavers assembly for year 11. It was a celebration of their success and recognition of all they have achieved at Carisbrooke over the last five years. A huge thank you to Mrs Smith and their tutors for all the support they have given them during their time at Carisbrooke. Many have now left school and gone onto study leave – please encourage these students to continue to revise for their upcoming exams and arrive at school in plenty of time. As a reminder, the prom will be held on Thursday 18 July.
Yesterday was also the National Final of the Young Enterprise Company of the Year competition. Our joint Carisbrooke and Medina team, Wild Wax Melts, gave a fantastic presentation to the judges. Unfortunately, they did not win, but to have been one of the top 13 teams out of 945 across the country is just amazing. We are so proud of them! They finish the programme with three ‘Best Company’ awards, separate awards for Digital, Marketing and Finance, and an active running business with new events and ventures planned in the months ahead.
The PE staff are busy organising our annual Sports day for years 7, 8 and 9 on Wednesday 19 June. Students need to sign up with their tutors. On this day, students taking part can come into school in their PE kit. Please remember to send them with plenty of water and sun cream.
Please can year 10 sign up for their work experience days which are Tuesday 16 – Thursday 18 July. This is an invaluable opportunity for them to get a taster of what it is like in a work place.
There are some exciting things happening next week. We have the University of Portsmouth running a workshop in school for year 10 students next week. Year 7 are out next Thursday on a trip to see a performance of Wicked in Southampton which I am sure they will thoroughly enjoy.
We only have seven weeks left until the summer holidays. Can I please remind you of the importance of student attendance and punctuality. Any time missed from lessons is detrimental to your child’s learning and impacts on their results, and this term is as important as any.
