i-Construct Award Winners!

Year 10 Design Technology students were invited to take part in an exciting event at Fareham College recently. They were given the opportunity to explore a future career in civil engineering in a skills workshop. The i-Construct event was supported by the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Students were challenged alongside industry professionals to allow them to explore roles in civil engineering. The challenge was centered around the planning and construction of a new hospital. The students took part in a question and answer session, problem solving and had a tour of the site which included demonstrations of the large machines that would be used including diggers and cranes. They then created and delivered a presentation. It was an educational and engaging day for all involved.

The event was designed to raise awareness among young people about potential careers in the construction industry and help with the narrowing of a potential skills gap in the future.

The Medina team, led by Luke, won an award for the most inclusive presentation! Well done.
